Jake Paul aims to avenge U.S. Olympic boxing defeat, targets gold at Los Angeles 2028 Games

 Professional boxer Jake Paul has announced his intention to compete in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, aiming to secure a gold medal for the United States in boxing. This bold move comes after the U.S. boxing team’s underwhelming performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where they failed to win gold and secured only one medal. Omari Jones was the sole American to reach the podium, earning a bronze in the middleweight division, while the other seven U.S. boxers were eliminated before the semi-finals.

Paul, who turned professional in 2020 and holds a 10-1 record, expressed his frustration with the current state of U.S. Olympic boxing during an episode of his podcast, BS w/ Jake Paul. He declared, "I'm going to enter the 2028 Olympics for boxing in Los Angeles. I'm sick and tired of waiting around and waiting for another gold for Team USA."

Determined to bring glory back to U.S. boxing, Paul added, "I've definitely added another couple of years to my boxing career because of that - but Los Angeles, United States, sick as f**k. I'm going to do it, why not? 2028 Olympics, you heard it here first - gold medal, you're mine, brother."

The U.S. has a storied history in Olympic boxing, but the last gold medal came from Claressa Shields, who won in both the 2012 London and 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games. Paul’s ambition to compete in 2028 could be a significant moment for U.S. boxing, as he looks to reclaim the nation's former glory on home soil.
