Brawl on personal matter claims two lives

Two men were killed and two siblings wounded when an unidentified gunman opened fire inside a house in Gulistan-e-Johar on Saturday.

The deceased identified as 25-year-old Abdul Salam and 28-year-old Nasir Ashraf. The injured are Asim and Asif, who are brothers. The deadly shooting occurred at Sukkur House, located at B115 in Gulistan-e-Johar, Block 3A.

Police rushed to the scene and ferried the casualties to JPMC. The Crime Scene Unit was called in to collect evidence. At least 13 bullet casings of a 9mm pistol were found at the crime scene.

Pir Shabir Haider, SHO of Gulistan-e-Johar police station, stated that Abdul Salam, along with the injured siblings, were on the first floor of the house when the shooting occurred.

Nasir Ashraf, along with an unidentified man, had gone to the residence of victims where a heated argument ensued between this guest and Abdul Salam over a personal matter involving a woman, the SHO added. During the altercation, the guest opened fire, resulting in the death of Abdul Salam and Nasir, and leaving Asim and Asif injured.

After the deadly shooting, the gunman fled the scene. Police have retrieved footage from the CCTV cameras installed in the house to identify the suspect. The deceased and the injured hail from Haripur district of Hazara Division, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Nasir Ashraf had rented the upper floor of the house, which also serves as a guesthouse.

The investigation is ongoing as police said that they are working to arrest the shooter and determine the motives and the circumstances surrounding the double murder.
