After a highly disturbing incident of alleged necrophilia surfaced on Friday, a post-mortem examination was conducted on the victim's body which was exhumed from a grave in Masoom Shah graveyard located within the jurisdiction of the Awami police station in Korangi on Saturday evening.

DNA samples were also collected from the deceased woman's son, with police oversight. The suspect in the case is currently in police custody, and an FIR has been filed based on the complaint from the son of the deceased.

According to the FIR, the suspect was apprehended by local residents while attempting to desecrate the grave of a recently buried 55-year-old woman and sexually abuse her corpse. The distressing incident occurred on Friday.

"We buried the body late on Thursday evening," said Waseem, a relative of the deceased. He added that they received a call on Friday night informing that a man had been caught in the act of grave desecration. The FIR states that the suspect was found using an emergency light to commit the crime.

Enraged by the sight, the local residents thrashed the suspect before handing him over to the police for legal proceedings. Police have charged the suspect under several sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including Section 297 (trespassing on burial places), Section 376 (rape), and Section 354 (assault or criminal force with intent to outrage modesty).

On Saturday, police surgeon Dr Sumaiya, accompanied by local police, reached the graveyard to oversee the exhumation and post-mortem process. The procedure, which was witnessed by local residents, lasted for over an hour. "The body has been reburied properly," Waseem confirmed. He expressed profound shock and distress over the incident, stating that the family is in a state of shock, disbelief and anguish. He urged the authorities to ensure the perpetrator faces severe punishment.
