QUETTA:

Employees of the Balochistan University of Information Technology and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) staged a protest outside the Quetta Press Club, demanding they payment of their salaries and dues.

The protestors said that they have not been paid for the last three months.

The President of the Academic Staff Association, Sohail Anwar along with other protesters, lashed out at both the government and the university administration for their mismanagement.

They carried placards and banners, chanted slogans and demanding payment of their dues. The protestors braved the sweltering sun and the severe heat to press for their demands.

BUITEMS with more than 10,000 students has been facing worst finical crisis of its existence. The varsity is ranked to be among the top 500 universities in Asia.

"Yes the employees are without salaries for the past three months", a senior university official told The Express Tribune. He requested anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the media.

After a full day of protest, the participants dispersed peacefully in the evening but warned that more rounds of protest could follow if their demands are not met within a week.
