FAISALABAD:

Pakistan has the world's largest population below the age of 30. This youth bulge can prove to be a game changer for Pakistan but the state policies do not seem aligning with such prospects. Unfortunately, our policymakers do not find time to think about this frustrated and unemployed youth population burdened with huge expectations and having big dreams in their eyes. It's about time for those sitting in the power corridors to take some effective and urgent measures to accommodate this rapidly rising strength of unemployed youth.

According to a report, Pakistan needs to generate 1.4 million jobs every year to accommodate the graduates every year. We have outstanding examples in our neighbourhood of how they utilised their human capital. Both China and India are now the world's best performing economies thanks to their policymakers who chanenelled the human resource in the best possible way. Pakistan must learn from these neighbouring countries and formulate policies keeping its youth in view.
