The decision was taken after the accused was released by a local court on bail on Monday.
Azmatullah was arrested by the Anti-Extremism cell (AEC) of the Crime Investigation Department of city police from Manghopir, confirmed SSP Investigation East Zone Niaz Khoso. “Due to a shortage of evidence, the courts release several suspects on bail but he has been detained for further investigation,” a police official said.
According to CID officials, the AEC conducted a raid at a house in Kunwari Colony, Manghopir and arrested Azmatullah, an alleged Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militant whose brother Wahabullah was leading a group of TTP members in North Waziristan. The accused man had played an important role in the Karsaz carnage, officials said. Azmatullah arrived in Karachi during the second half of June and the agencies believed that he had been planning another terrorist activity.
