In a shocking incident, the police in Kunri allegedly subjected an innocent young man, Riaz Baba, to brutal torture. The real culprits involved in the crime were later arrested.
The incident sparked outrage among the victim's mother, relatives, and local citizens, who staged a protest rally from Munshi Goth neighbourhood to the Kunri Press Club, demanding justice.
According to victim's mother Razia said that, 45-year-old Riaz Baba, a resident of Munshi Goth, was falsely accused of robbery and detained by the police.
The police allegedly tortured him for several days, stripping him of his clothes and inflicting severe physical abuse, even pulling out his nails. As a result of the brutal torture, Baba's condition deteriorated to the point where he could not even walk.
During the protest, the elderly mother of the victim, Razia, tearfully spoke to the media, accusing a local widow and her influential brother-in-law of orchestrating the false robbery accusation that led to her son's arrest.
She claimed that the police acted on their behalf, subjecting her innocent son to unimaginable cruelty. The protesters carried placards with slogans against police brutality, chanting vehemently against the police's actions. They highlighted that despite proving Riaz Baba's innocence and arresting the real culprits, the police had become tools of influential individuals, repeatedly targeting innocent citizens with false charges and brutal treatment.
