Heavy rainfall predicted in various parts of Pakistan

Heavy rainfall expected in northeast and southern Balochistan, AJK, and G-B over the next 24 hours

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted more rain, windstorms, and thundershowers for Upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Northeast and South Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan over the next 24 hours.

Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated locations in Northeast Punjab, the Potohar Region, Upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and AJK.

According to the synoptic situation, monsoon currents are continuously flowing from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal into the eastern and upper regions of the country. Additionally, a trough of a westerly wave is present in the northern areas.

In the past 24 hours, rain, wind, and thundershowers occurred at several locations in Upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Northeast and South Punjab, Sindh, South and Central Balochistan, and Kashmir.

The recorded rainfall included Cherat in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa with 46mm, followed by Kakul with 15mm, and both Kalam and Lower Dir with 1mm.

In Punjab, Rahim Yar Khan saw 18mm, Chakwal and Joharabad each recorded 12mm, Khanpur had 11mm, Gujrat received 8mm, and Khanpur and Jhang reported 3mm and 1mm, respectively.

Sindh experienced rainfall with Khairpur at 7mm, Karachi (North Karachi 4mm, MOS 2mm, Gulshan-e-Maymar 1mm), while Chhor and Rohri both had 2mm, and Tando Jam, Hyderabad (City), and Sukkur each recorded 1mm.

In Balochistan, Jiwani received 5mm and Kalat 4mm. Kashmir reported 5mm in Kotli, 4mm in Garhi Dupatta, and 1mm in Muzaffarabad.

The highest recorded temperatures were in Chilas at 44°C, followed by Nokkundi and Bunji at 43°C.
