Four booked over death during childbirth

The police have registered a case over the death of a woman during childbirth at a dispensary.

Police officials said they had launched a search for four suspects nominated in the case, including a pharmacy owner.

According to the police, Ali Raza, a resident of 556GB, stated in his complaint that he was taking his wife Khursheed Bibi to the THQ Hospital in Toba Tek Singh for delivery on the night of August 4 when he went to a pharmacy on Mamu Kanjan Road to ask about the nearest hospital.

The owner of the pharmacy, Adnan, said he was also running a maternity home on the floor above his pharmacy. He offered to help in the delivery case. The suspect Rs30,000, while Nasir, Amna Bibi and Fakhira performed a surgery. The complainant claimed that there were no qualified doctors. "They carried out an operation for money, which led to the death" he alleged.
