A couple allegedly killed their daughter by beating her with sticks and feeding her poison over suspicions on her character.
The police arrested five suspects, including the parents, and registered a case.
According to the report lodged by Chak Jhumra SHO Ali Ikram Goraya, Zulfikar and his wife Nazia killed their daughter Laiba Noor with the help of accomplices Sohail Aslam and Zohaib Aslam.
The suspects had reported to the police that their daughter had died of natural causes.
However, their neighbours reported that the deceased was suspected of having relations with a resident of the area, due to which Zulfiqar, in connivance with his wife, had attacked the victim with sticks and forced her to consume poison.
The police registered the case under and arrested the suspects. Meanwhile, a youth allegedly committed suicide after an argument with his father by jumping into the Chenab river from a bridge.
Rescue teams, including divers, launched a search for the body. Asghar son of Afzal, a resident of Hajiabad, had a heated argument with his father and left his home.
Later, the youth parked his car near the Chenab Sial Mor and jumped into the river.
As soon as the information was received, the motorway and Laksian police reached the spot.
Teams of Rescue 1122 started a search for the body with the help of divers. According to Sargodha Road SHO Rai Asif, the deceased had a timber business in partnership with Rana Babar and had frequent fights with his father. The young man was traveling towards Lahore when he jumped into the river, officials said.
