The Sindh High Court heard a petition regarding the dispute over 10 acres of land in Korangi area, which has not been resolved in 47 years.
The court summoned Karachi Development Authority DG, secretary services and others at the next hearing.
Petitioner's lawyer Khawaja Shams Islam stated that the victims of 1976 flood in Karachi were resettled on the said land by the then Sindh government. The people living along the nullahs were evicted and relocated to Korangi, which was under development at that time.
However, in 1979, after the ouster of the PPP govt in a military coup, the martial law regime returned the said piece of land to the KDA.
The flood victims vehemently defended their case and their application was disposed of on the assurance of KDA to give the land to the petitioners.
The Sindh government is now saying it is their land and will not be given to the petitioners.
The counsel for the petitioners claimed that Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah wants to give the land to Khawaja Abdul Ghani Majid, popularly known as AG Majid, the owner of Omni Group. The court summoned DG KDA, secretary services and others at the next hearing on August 8.
