Asad Umar rushed to hospital from Lahore court, condition reported stable
Former Finance Minister Asad Umar was rushed to a hospital after experiencing health issues during his appearance at an anti-terrorism court in Lahore.
According to Umar's legal representative, he began feeling heart-related discomfort while present in the courtroom on Tuesday.
Umar was swiftly moved from the courtroom to a vehicle waiting at the main gate. A video has surfaced showing the former federal minister being carried by people to a vehicle.
PTI leader Zain Qureshi accompanied Umar, who was taken to the hospital for a medical examination and tests.
The minister's condition was reported as stable, with doctors stating he had experienced low blood pressure. His ECG test results were reportedly normal.
The minister was taken to a hospital in Karachi earlier in June due to back issues.
He's been facing several charges, including vandalism and the cypher case, related to the May 9 violence. He had stepped down from the post of PTI secretary general around two weeks after the riots on May 9, 2023.
He had resigned from the PTI party and announced his retirement from politics in November last year.
