RAWALPINDI:

Severe water shortage is plaguing the residents of Adiala Road and the surrounding villages of Nader Surat, Kiltex Road, and Defense Road.

Residents are being forced to buy water tankers at prices ranging from Rs2,500 to Rs3,000 to sustain their daily lives as neither WASA nor Cantonment authorities have addressed the issue.

The distressed residents have appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the Prime Minister, and the Chief Minister of Punjab to provide basic water facilities. Muhammad Naveed, Haq Nawaz, and others highlighted that despite multiple complaints to the Cantonment Board, the severe water shortage persists. They mentioned that the groundwater level is very low, making bore wells ineffective.

Residents noted that each family requires three to four tankers every month, significantly increasing their financial burden and impacting household budgets.

The community urged the Chief Justice, Prime Minister, and Chief Minister of Punjab to take immediate notice and direct the relevant authorities to lay water supply lines to alleviate the water crisis in these villages, thereby resolving the basic problem for hundreds of residents.
