Adele, the Grammy-winning singer, made a memorable moment during her Munich concert on August 3 by pausing her performance to watch the women’s 100-meter final at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

During her show at Messe München, Adele took a brief intermission to tune into the race, which was broadcasted on the venue’s big screen. As the event unfolded, the audience watched as Julien Alfred from Saint Lucia clinched the gold medal with a time of 10.72 seconds, followed closely by Team USA’s Sha’Carri Richardson.

In a video shared on social media, Adele is seen walking to the back of the stage, with the jumbotron shifting from her performance to the Olympic coverage.

Upon seeing Alfred’s victory, Adele excitedly addressed the crowd, saying, “Let’s give her a round of applause! Fantastic, St. Lucia!” She then encouraged everyone to continue enjoying the show.

Earlier in the week, Adele had spoken about her admiration for Olympic athletes, joking about her own lack of athletic prowess. She remarked, “While I was watching world-class athletes, I’d be like, ‘Oh that landing was a bit dodgy, wasn’t it? Oh her legs weren’t really straight.’ Meanwhile, if I tried anything that they do, I’d be dead.”

Adele also praised gymnast Simone Biles for her outstanding performance, calling her "absolutely brilliant."

Currently performing at Munich Messe through August 31, Adele is on a special European run, marking her first tour in mainland Europe since 2016.

She expressed her excitement about the unique venue and the timing of her shows, noting the overlap with major sporting events like the UEFA European Championship and the Olympics.

In a statement on her tour website, Adele shared her enthusiasm: “I couldn’t think of a more wonderful way to spend my summer and end this beautiful phase of my life and career with shows closer to home during such an exciting summer.”

Adele recently told German outlet ZDF that she plans to take a break from new music to explore other creative pursuits. “I don’t have any plans for new music, at all,” she said. “I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.”
