ACE files cases against over 10 govt officials

The Anti-Corruption Committee-1 – the highest body of the Sindh Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) – has filed five cases against more than 10 senior officers and several subordinate employees of provincial government departments.

As per details, two cases were filed in the Karachi zone, while one case each was filed in Hyderabad, Jamshoro, and Mirpurkhas zones. The cases, which were registered under the Anti-Corruption Act with the committee’s approval, involve officers in grades 17, 18 and 19, as well as lower-level employees from the Board of Revenue, Universities and Boards Department, Irrigation Department, and Education Department.

The accused include assistant commissioners, Mukhtiarkars, inspectors, supervising tapaydars, former controller and IT in-charges from the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Mirpurkhas, and superintendents and executive engineers of the irrigation department.

During a recent meeting, the ACC-1 reviewed 32 cases of alleged corruption spanning 11 provincial departments. Sources indicate that the officers are accused of power abuse, causing financial losses to the public treasury, and other forms of corruption. Following a thorough review, the ACC-1 approved the registration of five cases and initiated 16 open inquiries.
