One dacoit from the notorious Jagrani gang was killed, six others were injured and arrested during a gunbattle with rangers and police in Ghotki district on Saturday.
The gunbattle started during a joint police-rangers raid on the hideouts of Mir Ahmed Jagrani and Ali Hasan Jagrani, leaders of the gang involved in serious criminal activities including kidnapping for ransom, murder, attempted murder, and extortion. The raid took place in the riverine area of Ghotki and is ongoing.
According to a Rangers spokesperson, the dacoits from the Ricky Jagrani gang opened fire on the law enforcers during the raid. The law enforcers returned fire, resulting in the death of one dacoit and injuries to six others. Five of the injured have been identified as Khabar, Najib, Dilshad, Zahoor, Shakur.
The spokesperson added that this gang is also allegedly involved in recent kidnappings in Ghotki city and extortion attempts targeting local businessmen.
