Ryan Reynolds has come to Jamie Lee Curtis's defense following her controversial remarks about Marvel's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Curtis, who starred in the Oscar-winning film Everything Everywhere All at Once, made comments comparing the two movies during an interview with MTV. She noted that Doctor Strange was lacking in several areas, humorously citing the absence of “a dynamite dildo fight scene as well as a very erotic hotdog hand-mating dance.”

Curtis went on to praise her film, saying it “has a deep BEATING heart and BRILLIANT visual treats, EXTRAORDINARY performances and FANTASTIC BEASTLY FIGHT SCENES…… AND it COST LESS than the ENTIRE craft service budget on Doctor Strange and/or any other Marvel movie.”

These remarks did not sit well with Marvel fans, who flooded social media with critical responses. In light of the backlash, Curtis issued an apology earlier today.

In an attempt to calm the situation, Ryan Reynolds, known for his role as Deadpool in the Marvel universe, addressed the controversy with a tweet. Reynolds questioned the necessity of apologizing for critical opinions about Marvel films post-Endgame. “Wait, is everyone expected to apologize for slamming Marvel post-Endgame?” he wrote, suggesting that differing opinions should be acceptable.

The tweet aimed to deflect some of the criticism directed at Curtis, promoting a more open discourse about the films. Reynolds's intervention highlights the intense loyalty of Marvel fans and the sensitivity surrounding critiques of the franchise.
