American swimming sensation Katie Ledecky has made history once again by becoming the most decorated female Olympian in US history.
At the Paris 2024 Olympics, Ledecky secured a silver medal in the women's 4x200m freestyle relay, bringing her total Olympic medal count to an impressive 13.
This achievement surpasses the previous record held by Jenny Thompson, who had won 12 medals.
The US team, featuring Ledecky alongside Bella Sims, Allison Schmitt, and Claire Weinstein, finished the relay with a time of 7:39.24.
They claimed the silver medal behind the Australian team, which set a new Olympic record with a time of 7:38.08.
Australia's victory was marked by a remarkable performance from their swimmers, including Ariarne Titmus, Mollie O'Callaghan, Shayna Jack, and Brianna Throssell.
Ledecky, now a veteran of three Olympic Games, has consistently showcased her prowess in the pool since her debut as a 15-year-old at the London 2012 Olympics.
Her tally of seven gold and six silver medals across individual and team events underscores her dominance and longevity in the sport.
