Pakistan dismisses Iran's remarks on Parachinar situation as 'unnecessary'

Pakistan has dismissed an Iranian statement regarding the situation in Parachinar as 'unnecessary', asserting that the comments did not reflect the full situation.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch addressed the matter during her weekly press briefing, emphasising Pakistan's commitment to ensure the safety of its citizens and maintaining regional stability.

Mumtaz stated that any loss of life is unacceptable and assured that the Ministry of Interior is actively working to address the security concerns in Parachinar.

"Pakistan is responsible for the protection of its citizens, and the Iranian statement on Parachinar is unwarranted, lacking a comprehensive understanding of the situation," she remarked.

The spokesperson highlighted Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar's recent visit to Iran, where he attended the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and delivered goodwill messages.

Despite the tensions, this visit underscores the importance of maintaining strong diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Iran.

In a broader diplomatic context, Mumtaz strongly condemned Israel's aggressive actions in Lebanon, labeling them a blatant violation of international law and a threat to regional peace.

She expressed condolences over the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh, calling for action against those responsible and warning of the dangerous consequences of Israel's military escalation.

Turning to the Kashmir issue, Mumtaz reminded the international community of the upcoming anniversary of India's unilateral actions on August 5, 2019, which altered Jammu and Kashmir's status.

She reiterated Pakistan's unwavering support for the Kashmiri people and their right to self-determination.

Mumtaz also referenced United Nations Security Council reports confirming Pakistan's concerns about the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) receiving support from within Afghanistan. She urged the Afghan government to take decisive action against terrorist groups, emphasising the need for regional cooperation to combat extremism and promote peace.

In response to a query about the recent attack on a UN vehicle in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Mumtaz assured that Pakistan considers foreign tourists, businesspeople, and diplomats as valued guests and is committed to ensuring their safety.
