CM orders crackdown on milk adulteration

Urges supply chain improvement through technology

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered a campaign to check milk adulteration in the province.

Chairing a meeting, she discussed in detail a comprehensive strategy to prevent artificial increase in the prices of essential commodities like chicken and milk. “Artificial increase in prices cannot be tolerated,” she said. She had a detailed review of issues related to the supply chain and pricing mechanism of chicken and milk in the province.

The chief minister said, ”All stakeholders must work together to improve the supply chain performance.” She added, ”By improving the supply chain with the use of modern technology, stability in prices should be brought.”

Presiding over another meeting, the chief minister called for completion of a roads rehabilitation programme by June 30 next year. The meeting was held to review 471 road projects under the rehabilitation programme. The chief minister reviewed 75 projects of road rehabilitation in villages with a budget outlay of Rs192 billion, ordering the start of work by September 15. She also directed the authorities concerned to undertake construction and rehabilitation of the Kartarpur Corridor.

She said, ”The GT Road to Quaid-i-Azam Ring Road Interchange will be expanded, while the 93km road from Multan to Vehari will also be repaired.”
