Fire in barber shop on 25th had injured seven people

CHAK JHUMRA:

Four of seven people who had suffered burns after an air conditioner explosion in a barber shop near the old central jail last week succumbed to their injuries in the Allied Hospital.

After completing the legal formalities, the police handed over the families to the families.

The victims were buried in their ancestral graveyards in the presence of hundreds of mourners.

The explosion had taken place on July 25 near the Novelty Bridge, causing sever burn injuries to seven people.

They had been transferred to the Burns Unit of the Allied Hospital, where, after four days, Owais Abdul Sattar, Sheikh Raza, Muhammad Ali and Usman succumbed to their injuries on Sunday night.

The Factory Area police took the bodies into custody and later handing them over to the families of the victims.

Three of the deceased were residents of the area around the old central jail and one of Goshala.

The condition of the three injured persons was stated by hospital officials to be critical.

A video also surfaced of the explosion in the barber shop. It showed that some people fell outside the shop into the market after the explosion and a motorcycle parked outside also caught fire.

A similar explosion in a house in the Batala Colony area a few months ago had claimed the lives of nine people, including women.

The Faisalabad deputy commissioner had ordered an inquiry after the earlier incident.
