Michael C. Hall makes surprise appearance at Comic-Con for Dexter prequel and sequel announcements
Michael C. Hall surprised fans at San Diego Comic-Con by appearing on a panel for the upcoming Dexter prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, which he narrates. He also announced his starring role in a new sequel series, Dexter: Resurrection, set in present day.
Dexter: Original Sin, set in 1991 Miami, follows a young Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as he hones his killing skills with the guidance of his adoptive father Harry (Christian Slater). The series premieres in December.
Dexter: Resurrection will begin production in January 2025 and is set to launch in summer 2025. Details about the plot are scarce, but the title hints at the possible return of Dexter, who was seemingly killed in the 2021 series Dexter: New Blood.
The Comic-Con panel, moderated by Sarah Michelle Gellar, also featured appearances by Slater, Gibson, and executive producers Scott Reynolds and Clyde Phillips. The team discussed the prequel's themes of family and finding solace in unexpected places, as well as the challenges and excitement of revisiting these iconic characters.
Fans can expect "what you have seen before but better," according to Phillips, with "surprising and astonishing and satisfying" storytelling. With both a prequel and a sequel on the horizon, Dexter fans have much to look forward to.
