Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has agreed to enter negotiations with the government, forming a four-member committee led by Deputy Amir Liaqat Baloch, amid the ongoing sit-in in twin cities.
During the sit-in at Liaquat Bagh, JI leaders met with a government delegation that included Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry. The government requested an immediate end to the sit-in, but JI declined, agreeing instead to negotiations.
The JI spokesperson stated, "Government representative Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry met with Hafiz Naeem and Liaqat Baloch, extending an invitation for talks to be held tomorrow (Sunday)."
The JI delegation will include Deputy Amir Liaqat Baloch, Secretary General Ameerul Azim, Syed Farasat Shah, and Nasrullah Randhawa.

The spokesperson confirmed that the four-member committee will negotiate with the government today, with details of time and location to be announced later.
The meeting between the government’s negotiation team and JI leaders was described as cordial. The Federal Information Minister Tarar expressed hope that the talks would be fruitful, recognising JI as a peaceful party.
JI’s spokesperson announced that Hafiz Naeemur Rehman will hold a press conference at 11:30am on Sunday to outline the next steps, reiterating that the sit-in will not end until their demands are met.
