The city police will go after car thieves in the adjoining districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Malakand Agency in a bid to control the increasing incidents of car theft in Islamabad.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Malik Yousuf directed the in-charge of Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) to contact the police of other districts in K-P in order to trace suspected carjackers involved in lifting cars from the capital.
Special teams were constituted under the supervision of ACLC in-charge to track down suspected carjackers from Mardan, Swabi and Peshawar. The Malakand administration will also be contacted for the arrest of proclaimed offenders.
The SSP said that a close liaison be maintained with the police of other districts. Raids should be conducted with the local police’s help against carjacking gangs. For this purpose an updated list of suspects who remained involved in car lifting will be compiled and their movements will be monitored through special assignments by the police.
