The city of Lahore experienced a significant weather change as rain broke the persistent heat, bringing pleasant weather to the provincial capital.

The rainfall, which varied from light to heavy across different areas, provided much-needed relief from the heat and humidity.

However, the heavy downpour in several parts of the city led to water accumulation on the streets, posing challenges for residents.

Following the late-night rain, district administration, along with Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) officials, were seen actively working to manage the water drainage.

According to WASA Lahore, Lakshmi Chowk recorded the highest rainfall at 95mm, followed by Gulberg with 65mm, and Upper Mall with 50mm.

Other significant recordings included 66mm in Mughalpura, 46mm in Tajpura, and 62mm in Nishtar Town.

WASA's Managing Director, Ghufran Ahmed, along with the drainage operation team, visited various areas to oversee the operations.

Deputy Commissioner Lahore, Rafia Haider, also monitored the drainage efforts continuously. Utilizing heavy machinery, WASA managed to clear the main roads across the city.

The Meteorological Department has predicted further rain in the next 24 hours, which is expected to continue providing relief from the heat while necessitating ongoing efforts to manage water accumulation.
