Rapper Young Thug and his attorney Brian Steele have filed a fresh motion requesting bond following the recent appointment of Judge Paige Reese Whitaker to the YSL RICO trial.

Thug's legal team contends that he should be granted bail due to his strong community connections and lack of flight risk.

They emphasize that he is presumed innocent until proven guilty, quoting, “In the Great State of Georgia, unlike other States, for purposes of pretrial bond analysis, the presumption of innocence remains with the person accused of an offense, even a capital offense, from arrest and even during trial…”

The motion argues that this presumption is fundamental to the criminal justice system and asserts that a reasonable pretrial bond is essential to uphold this principle. Whitaker, who took over from Judge Ural Glanville after his recusal earlier this month, has begun reviewing the trial’s pending motions and is adjusting to her new role.

She has implemented new courtroom protocols, including bans on headphones and eating, to maintain decorum and professionalism.

As a result, the jury will not return to court until August 5, delaying the trial proceedings.
