Proving that music recognises no political borders, Indian singer Sundanda Sharma delighted fans as she made an impromptu appearance on stage during Pakistani singer Naseebo Lal’s concert in Birmingham. In a video clip going viral on social media, Sunanda could be seen hovering near the stage as Naseebo gave her a glowing introduction.
“Please give Sunanda a big round of applause — she has come here to Birmingham from London especially for my concert!” announced a delighted Naseebo. Clad in a beautiful white saree as she navigated the stage closer to where Sunanda stood amongst the crowd, Naseebo added, “I am so honoured to have you here!”
Having no time for Naseebo’s outstretched hand, a clearly excited Sunanda athletically hoisted herself onto the stage, with the two songstresses enveloping each other in a warm embrace.
“Just like a boy falls in love with a girl, I am deeply in love with Naseebo Lal,” declared Sunanda before a cheering crowd. “As soon as I found out that this legend was performing here, I knew I had to come! Thank you very much for letting me be here!” With a flourish, the Indian star bowed before Naseebo, sending the crowd wild. Taking the time to thank each musician on stage, Sunanda then returned to the crowd to enjoy the remainder of the concert.
The short but sweet interaction melted the hearts of fans of both artists online on either side of the border. “Music has no boundaries,” penned one fan in the comments section of the video on Naseebo’s official Instagram handle. “Absolutely beautiful.”
Sunanda’s repertoire includes popular tracks Mummy Nu Pasand and Duji Vaar Pyar. Meanwhile, Naseebo debuted as a featured artist in Coke Studio’s season 9, and performed Tu Jhoom with industry powerhouse Abida Parveen in Coke Studio season 14. Tu Jhoom also featured at the end of episode 5 of Ms Marvel.
