Karachi experienced severe traffic congestion around the Sindh Governor House on Tuesday due to heightened security for the arrival of the Bohra community's spiritual leader. Commuters were stuck for hours as traffic crawled to a halt.
The Karachi Traffic Police issued an alert at 7:38 pm, informing the public that Ziauddin Ahmed Road, leading from PIDC Chowk to the State Life Building, was partially reopened for one-way traffic.
Earlier, at 6:02 pm, the police had announced the closure of Ziauddin Ahmed Road, Deen Muhammad Wafai Road, and Sarwar Shaheed Road, without specifying the reason, leading to traffic snarls at II Chundrigar, Shaheen Chowk, Khajoor Chowk, Aiwan-i-Sadr Road, and their vicinities.
In response to the gridlock, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah intervened, directing the administration, district, and traffic police to clear the roads. He also called for improved traffic management and required a report on the situation once the roads were reopened.
