“Growing cottage industries are contributing a lot to exports and if their requirements are met, they will be in a position to do more and add thousands of people to their workforce, which will not only reduce unemployment but also help in boosting exports,” he said while taking to The Express Tribune.
Butt said Sialkot was the only city of Pakistan from where 99% of the items were exported with small and medium enterprises (SMEs) earning $1.25 billion a year.
He said most of the SMEs were carrying out their business in residential areas of the city due to lack of specific business localities.
