Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has declared that his party's sit-in scheduled for July 26 in Islamabad will persist until their demands are met.

Addressing a trader convention on Monday, Hafiz Naeem stated, "Our protest is against the excessive taxes, and the exorbitant increases in petroleum and gas prices."

"We will demand our rights from the imposed government of Form 47 with full force."

"We must sit in Islamabad until our demands are approved. Regardless of party affiliations, Jamaat-e-Islami will not betray you. We will live with dignity and courage in our country," he added, deeming the protest a national agenda.

Rehman extended an invitation to members of all parties, emphasising that JI's struggle is essential to prevent anarchy in Pakistan.

"We will embark on a peaceful political resistance and, InshaAllah, we will succeed," he said.

July 26 sit-in will reflect representation of the country's 250 million people, the JI chief stated.

He urged the government to abolish the interest system and unjust taxes on petrol and electricity.

"Traders are willing to pay taxes if these measures are implemented, but a privileged class has taken over this country, infiltrating every system from martial law to democracy and caretaker setups," Rehman concluded.
