Why is Tory Lanez in jail?

Tory Lanez is currently incarcerated for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in July 2020. The incident occurred after they left a party at Kylie Jenner's house and reportedly got into an argument in a car.

Megan Thee Stallion later revealed she was shot in both feet, and while details surrounding the moments leading up to the shooting are debated, the events sparked a national conversation about gun violence and the treatment of Black women.

In December 2022, following a trial where Megan Thee Stallion bravely testified, Tory Lanez was found guilty on three charges: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
