The PTI has submitted the affiliation forms of 38 independent lawmakers to the ECP. A PTI representative submitted the forms, along with additional documents, to the election oversight authority on Friday.
Affidavits from three independent members—Sahibzada Mehmood Sultan, Mubeen Arif, and Riaz Fatyana—have not yet been submitted as they are currently abroad.
However, the affiliation forms for MNA Sultan and MNA Arif have been received by the party and will be submitted today (Saturday). The PTI also submitted additional documents for National Assembly members.
On July 12, the Supreme Court resurrected the former ruling party while addressing a case related to the non-allocation of reserved seats to the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), a party primarily composed of independent lawmakers who had won the February 8 general elections with the PTI’s support.
In its short order, the SC recognized 39 lawmakers as PTI members who had submitted the party’s affiliation forms with their nomination papers ahead of the February elections.
