The United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) has released six postage stamps and three souvenir sheets in honor of International Moon Day, celebrated on July 20.
This initiative highlights significant lunar missions, including China's Chang'e 4 and Chang'e 5, as well as missions from the United States, South Korea, and India.
Aarti Holla-Maini, director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), emphasised the increasing global interest in lunar exploration. She noted that these new stamps will raise awareness about lunar missions and facilitate important discussions on future space endeavors.
The stamps and souvenir sheets are available for purchase at UN headquarters in New York, Geneva, and Vienna, as well as on the UN website.
International Moon Day, established by the UN General Assembly in 2021, marks the anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, the first human landing on the Moon in 1969.
