Donald Trump’s family was in the spotlight during the Republican National Convention in July 2024, but it was his granddaughter, Kai Trump, who truly captured the audience’s attention.
Kai, the daughter of Donald Trump Jr., took the stage at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on the third night of the event.
Dressed in a stylish white dress with a bow and heels, the high school student made a memorable impression with her heartfelt speech.
Introduced by her father, Kai began her address with a warm hug and proceeded to share personal anecdotes about her grandfather.
Despite the turmoil surrounding former President Trump, who had recently survived an attempted assassination, Kai spoke affectionately about the “normal” side of him.
She highlighted how Trump, even amidst his legal battles, remains a supportive figure in her life. “Even when he’s going through all these court cases, he always asks me how I’m doing,” she said.
“He always encourages me to push myself to be the most successful person I can be. Obviously, he sets the bar pretty high. But who knows, maybe one day I’ll catch him.”
Kai’s speech also touched on the news of her grandfather’s shooting during a Pennsylvania campaign rally.
“I just wanted to know if she was OK,” she told the audience, expressing her shock and concern.
She concluded her speech with a loving tribute, stating, “Grandpa, you are such an inspiration and I love you,” and a rallying cry to “make America great again.”
Kai, who has been open about her admiration for her grandfather on social media, previously shared her experiences of playing golf with him.
A competitive golfer herself, she recently won a ladies' club championship at Trump’s golf course.
“If I’m not on his team, he’ll try to get inside of my head,” she joked during her RNC speech. “He’s always surprised that I don’t let him get to me, but I have to remind him that I’m a Trump too.”
Kai, who will graduate with the class of 2026, is also a dedicated student and athlete.
She’s the captain of her high school’s varsity golf team and aims to continue her athletic career at the collegiate level.
“Golf has always been a massive part of my life and is my biggest passion,” she wrote in her recruitment profile.
“I always aspire to be a leader and a positive figure on and off the golf course.”
