Javed Alam Odho has been reappointed as Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Karachi police after a notification was issued by the Chief Secretary Sindh on Thursday, Express News reported.

This change comes in response to the recent surge in street crimes across the city, prompting the removal of his predecessor, Khadim Hussain Rind.

Odho, who previously held the position, was replaced by Khadim Hussain Rind in September 2023.

However, Rind's tenure was cut short on March 30, 2024, due to increasing criminal activities.

Following Rind’s removal, Imran Yaqoob Minhas temporarily took over as Additional IG.

Minhas, who is currently serving as Additional IG of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), had his appointment swiftly reconsidered due to the ongoing crime wave.

However, the Sindh government decided to replace Minhas, turning to Javed Alam Odho to restore order.

The leadership changes reflect the government’s urgent response to the deteriorating security situation in Karachi.
