Former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Azam Khan, has revealed crucial details regarding the £190 million reference, revealing that former prime minister Imran Khan's aide on accountability Shahzad Akbar had handed him a signed note seeking cabinet approval.

According to Khan, the note, bearing Akbar's signature, was presented to him confidentially with instructions from the prime minister to seek cabinet approval. He promptly forwarded the file to the cabinet secretary for formal presentation. However, due to a prior commitment, Azam was unable to attend the subsequent cabinet meeting.

During Azam Khan's testimony, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) also presented a statement taken during their investigation into the former principal secretary. Azam confirmed the authenticity of the statement, noting, "My signature is indeed on that document."

Earlier on July 5, the accountability court summoned former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Azam Khan, former Defense Minister Pervez Khattak, Zubeida Jalal, and Patwari Gohar Abbas as witnesses in a high-profile case involving a 190 million pounds reference.
