Candace Owens recently engaged in a heated exchange with Jewish artist and activist Zoe Buckman following Owens’ controversial comments on the Holocaust.

Owens claimed last week that some accounts of Nazi doctor Josef Mengele’s experiments on Holocaust victims are “propaganda” because they would have been a “waste of supplies.” This statement led to public outrage and criticism from Buckman.

After the Instagram account Jewish on Campus summarised Owens’ podcast, stating that she called Holocaust education “indoctrination” and referred to Hitler’s actions as “nationalism,” Buckman responded publicly. She labelled Owens’ claims as “evil,” emphasising that “there is never a need to minimise the experience of the Holocaust on any of the groups who perished or survived it.”

In response, Owens sent Buckman a direct message saying, “You guys literally believe everything you read as long as you can play the victim. It really is incredible.” Owens added, “For once, it really wasn’t about you. Believe it or not, other groups have suffered genocide and this was their story.” She also told Buckman to “shut up” and listen to the entire podcast before commenting.

Owens, a former Daily Wire staffer who parted ways with the publication in March after reportedly feuding with co-founder Ben Shapiro over Israel and antisemitism, defended her actions. She told Page Six, “I did not ‘jump in a Jewish artist’s DMs.’ Rather, a Jewish artist jumped into my DMs by tagging me in a full-throated lie so that she could play the victim.”

The controversy stems from Owens’ remarks on her podcast, where she questioned the validity of some Holocaust accounts, calling them “bizarre propaganda” and suggesting that the Nazis’ experiments would have been a “tremendous waste of time and supplies.”
