Adele has announced that she will take a "big break" from music to focus on other creative pursuits. In an interview with German outlet ZDF, the 36-year-old singer revealed, "I don’t have any plans for new music, at all. I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while. I don’t like being famous. I love that I get to make music all the time."

This announcement follows her rescheduling of some Weekends With Adele shows at The Colosseum Caesars Palace. Despite her popularity and success, Adele expressed a desire to step away from the music industry temporarily. "I have to wait for a feeling. If I get antsy, that’s when I know I have to go to the studio, and I am the opposite of antsy right now," she told The Hollywood Reporter in December 2023.

Adele's discography includes her debut album released in 2009, followed by albums in 2011, 2015, and 2021. She admitted that she hasn't thought about new music recently and is looking forward to exploring other projects. She hinted at an interest in acting, stating, "There’s only one movie I want to do, but the guy whose movie it would be, he’s not mentally ready to write the script for it. That’s the only role I ever want. Because I think I’d nail it. I think I’d do really, really, really good at it."

Her decision to take a break also comes after postponing her Las Vegas residency shows due to health issues. Adele shared on social media, "Sadly I have to take a beat and pause my Vegas residency. I was sick at the end of the last leg and all the way through my break." She mentioned that continuing too soon resulted in further illness and "taken a toll on my voice." As a result, five weekends of shows have been rescheduled from March to October-November.

Adele is scheduled to perform residency shows in Germany at the Munich Messe Arena from August 2 to August 24.
