BAJAUR:

A grand meeting of the joint Jirga of Bajaur, Tarklani and Utmankhel tribes will be held on July 18 to discuss security matters in tribal districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

A Jirga of Tarklani and Utmankhel tribes was held at Civil Colony Headquarters Khar in Bajaur on Monday.

MPA Anwar Zaib Khan, MPA Dr Hameedur Rehman, MPA Engineer Ajmal Khan, Malik Ayaz, founder of Gul Afzal Bajaur Chamber Laali Shah, Malik Shaheen, dozens of political and tribal leaders and elders including Nazim Aala Haji Syed Badshah, Dr Khalilur Rehman, Malik Hiafiz-ur-Rehman, and Malik Fazal Rabi attended the gathering.

Addressing the participants, the speakers offered prayers for the departed soul of late Senator Hidayatullah Khan and his companions who lost their lives in the recent Damadola bomb blast.

They also demanded a transparent investigation into the incident to fix responsibility and reveal the culprits behind the attack.

The speakers highlighted the devastating impact of terrorism in Bajaur, stating that over 4,000 people became victim to the war on terror since 2008 without inviting any attention.

They lamented that the incidents of bombings and target killings ruined the lives of the people as the government had failed to restore peace in the region, forcing the locals to take to the streets as to protest against the violent incidents.
