‘Cultural Gala’ to bolster Pak-Korea ties

Event will feature musical performances and screening of films

Korea Pakistan Cultural Gala will be held from October 22nd to 27th with the aim of strengthening the friendship between the people of Pakistan and the Republic of Korea. A range of cultural programmes will be organised as part of the gala highlighting Korean culture.

Diplomatic relations between Korea and Pakistan have been going strong for 40 years. To strengthen these relations further and commemorate their cultural ties, the Korean government has also promoted investments in various sectors of Pakistan.

As part of the gala, National Armed Day will be held on October 22. The very next day, on October 23 Korea’s Koki Wan Taekwondo team will perform with Pakistani Taekwondo players at the Liaquat Gymnasium of the Pakistan Sports Complex. The country's famous singer, Uzair Jaswal, alongside a folk music band and the Korean classic performer, Kim Min-hee, will also perform during the event. Additionally, four Korean films will be screened at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on October 26 and 27.

Korean Ambassador to Pakistan Park Kujin, while speaking to The Express Tribune, said “We are proud of our friendship with Pakistan. Forty years of diplomatic relations of friendship between the Republic of Korea and Pakistan will be celebrated and many aspects of strong partnership in various fields including economic, educational, cultural cooperation, and the 'Gandhara Connection' will be highlighted”.

He further said, “The lasting friendship and cooperation developed between South Korea and Pakistan for four decades has made significant progress in bilateral relations. The relationship between Pakistan and Korea dates back to the 5th century”.

“The Korean government will promote many sectors and specific projects in culture, trade, investment and economic cooperation, and to give more substance to the relationship, the two countries should strengthen cultural ties and high-level educational exchanges should be actively pursued,” the ambassador elaborated.
