Armie Hammer opens up about sexual abuse allegations and his journey to sobriety and happiness

The Social Network star Armie Hammer credited therapy with being a "life changer."

Armie Hammer's Hollywood career came to a screeching halt in 2021 after he was accused of sexual abuse. More than two years later, an investigation by the LA District Attorney brought no charges against him due to "insufficient evidence."

Despite the allegations, Hammer has been reflecting on the experience and has spoken out about his journey to sobriety and happiness.

In a recent appearance on Bill Maher's Club Random, Hammer revealed that he is now sober after entering rehab to battle his addictions to drugs, alcohol, and sex. He credited therapy with being a "life changer" and said that the experience taught him that he doesn't need material possessions to be happy.

"I've never been happier than I've ever been in my entire life," Hammer said. "The good place only comes from walking through hell. It was a brutal experience."

Hammer also reflected on the allegations and the impact they had on his life, saying that the experience taught him that he needs to die and be reborn in order to truly find happiness. He referenced the work of Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell, saying that the idea of ego death and rebirth is a common theme in their work.

"I experienced an ego death, a career death, a financial death – all of these things, right?" Hammer said. "And [Carl] Jung talks about this. Joseph Campbell talks about this. You've got to die, and once you die you can then be reborn. A phoenix isn't going to rise if there's no ashes."

Hammer's appearance on Club Random comes after he revealed in a previous interview that he is "broke" but "happier than ever." He also spoke about his addiction struggles, saying that he was doing a lot of drugs and partying hard before he entered rehab.
