Actress Charlize Theron recently opened up about the joys and challenges of motherhood, revealing that her two daughters, Jackson and August, find her "constantly" embarrassing.

During her Africa outreach project party on July 13th, Theron told E! News, "Oh, my God, they're so embarrassed by me constantly. They’re kids, they're girls, you know? I have a preteen and I feel like I have a 9-year-old who thinks she's a 13-year-old. It’s a lot of girl in our house."

The "Mad Max: Fury Road" star, who adopted her daughters in 2012 and 2015, humorously described her children as "smart," "witty," and "firecrackers" who don't exactly shower her with compliments. "They do not go, ‘Oh my god, Mom, you're so amazing.’ They’re like, ‘Excuse me, I need. I want.'"

Theron, who always envisioned adoption as her path to motherhood, shared that her daughters are "normal kids" who can be "a--holes, but they’re really nice."

The South African-born actress also touched upon the cultural differences in parenting styles between her upbringing and that of her children in the U.S. She admitted to sometimes feeling overwhelmed by the American school system and exams, which are unfamiliar to her.

In a previous interview, Theron explained her open approach to adoption, stating that she didn't have specific preferences and simply wanted to find children who were meant to be in her life. Both her daughters happened to be born in the United States and are African American.
