Bollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh's brother detained in drug bust in India's Hyderabad

During a police raid, over 30 individuals, including Aman Preet, four foreigners, were identified as drug users

Bollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh's brother, actor Aman Preet Singh, has been arrested in connection with a drug case on Tuesday.

According to Indian media reports, Aman Preet Singh was detained along with four foreigners for allegedly using drugs.

The arrests took place in the Indian city of Hyderabad. 

Indian police sources revealed that a tip-off indicated more than 2 kilograms of cocaine was being brought to Hyderabad for sale, prompting the operation.

During the raid, over 30 individuals, including Aman Preet Singh, were identified as drug users.

Police stated that the suspects would undergo medical examinations before being presented in court. The operation resulted in the seizure of 200 grams of cocaine, valued at 20 million Indian rupees.

Rakul Preet Singh, Aman Preet's sister, has previously been summoned for questioning regarding drug trafficking and usage in 2021, 2022, and 2023.

Bollywood actors have been at the centre of a widening drug probe by Indian federal agencies.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has been investigating alleged drug use in Bollywood for the last several months, summoning top actors like Deepika Padukone for questioning.

The NCB has already questioned several well-known persons connected to the industry, including producers, talent managers and a fashion designer, as it aims to unearth a possible nexus between Bollywood and the drug trade.
