MILWAUKEE:

Former President Donald Trump has officially clinched the Republican Party's nomination for the upcoming presidential election on Monday, despite surviving an assassination attempt just days ago.

Delegates at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, confirmed his nomination with significant support from Florida, announced by his son Eric Trump.

Trump is set to formally accept the nomination in a highly anticipated prime-time speech on Thursday, gearing up to challenge Democratic President Joe Biden in the November 5 election. This marks Trump's third consecutive election as the Republican Party's candidate, following his 2016 victory against Hillary Clinton and his 2020 defeat to Biden.

Earlier on Monday, Trump ended months of speculation by announcing Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as his running mate via his social media platform Truth Social.
