Senior leader of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and member of the Senate Standing Committee (SCC), Senator Raza Rabbani, strongly criticised the government's decision to impose restrictions on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He stated that such actions would lead to political chaos and economic devastation.
Rabbani, along with other PPP leaders, responded to the government's move to impose restrictions on PTI, emphasising that curtailing political parties goes against democratic principles and would exacerbate political instability and harm the economy.
He argued that imposing restrictions on political parties contradicts all principles of democracy, urging the government to refrain from such steps.

Rabbani highlighted that historically, attempts to restrict political parties in Pakistan have always failed and have been consigned to the dustbin of history. He warned that such actions could destabilise the entire democratic system both economically and politically.
He suggested that the impact of this decision would resonate nationally, advising the government to abide by constitutional processes and seek judicial review if dissatisfied with the full court's decision.
On the other hand, PPP leader Farhatullah Babar dismissed the notion of placing restrictions on political parties and initiating treason cases as futile. He cautioned that the crises the government is creating will not lead to stability or sustain the integrity of the state.
