KARACHI:

Pakistan Customs Enforcement Karachi successfully intercepted a substantial quantity of marijuana based on a tip-off.

The Customs Enforcement team led by Deputy Collector Customs Muhammad Raza Naqvi recovered nine kilograms of marijuana in two separate, intelligence-based operations. The operations thwarted attempts to transport marijuana from Balochistan to Karachi by concealing it in the secret compartments of passenger buses. Naqvi informed The Express Tribune that the total value of the seized drugs is Rs16.2 million. Additionally, two passenger buses worth Rs50 million, used in these operations, have been confiscated.

In the first operation at the Customs Mochko check post, 3.6 kg of marijuana worth Rs6.5 million was recovered from the hidden compartments of passenger bus BTA-121, arriving from Balochistan. The second operation yielded 5.4 kg of marijuana worth Rs9.7 million from passenger bus JG5645, also coming from Balochistan. Naqvi stated that cases have been registered under the Customs Act, and the accused have been arrested and remanded by the competent court.
