RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has imposed a transit tax on all public transport passing through cantonment limits and has implemented a regular schedule rate.

The tax will be collected through a private contract. According to the schedule, daily rates will be Rs200 for passenger buses, Rs150 for minibuses, Rs100 for Suzuki vehicles, and Rs30 for taxis and rickshaws.

Every public transport vehicle passing through cantonment limits will have to pay the tax, which will be valid for the whole day.

However, the same tax amount must be paid again the next day. The Cantonment Board will award the tax collection contract to a private sector contractor on July 22.
