A sudden Cholera outbreak has been reported from Dir Upper district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Local health officials told The Express Tribune that as many as 211 patients were admitted in a day in District Headquarters Hospital Dir.
There is a lack of facilities at the DHQ hospital, which created a lot many problems for the patients and their attendants.
Patients have been forced to purchase essential medicines from the open market because the hospital does not have them in stock.
The hospital is experiencing severe difficulties due to a high influx of patients. Doctors are struggling to provide adequate care under these challenging conditions.
Social and political leaders from Dir have publicly appealed to the provincial government and the health department through the media, urgently requesting the immediate delivery of medicines and other necessary facilities to the hospital.
Earlier this month, a sudden upsurge in cases of gastroenteritis and diarrhea was reported across the province due to a severe heatwave and high humidity. Official sources said that most of the affected patients admitted to hospital emergency rooms were suffering from gastroenteritis and diarrhea.
