Two former captains have stepped in to resolve the differences and bridge the gaps among senior players Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, and Babar Azam, according to the media reports.
Sources also revealed that upon Shaheen Afridi's return to the country, a meeting between the three cricketers might be arranged at the home of a former captain.
Previously, after the T20 World Cup, a report by the head coach revealed that the national team was plagued by groupings, leading to their early exit from the tournament. Head coach Gary Kirsten has submitted a detailed report on these groupings to the PCB chairman.
Sources within the PCB have confirmed that efforts are being made to create harmony within the team before the upcoming series. The rift reportedly intensified during the T20 World Cup when strategic disagreements surfaced.
Additionally, reports had surfaced about a confrontation between Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Yousuf, which was later resolved after Wahab Riaz's intervention. This incident occurred during the England tour, and the senior manager, Wahab Riaz, managed to suppress the issue, which eventually cost him his position.
The move by the former captain is seen as a crucial step to ensure team unity and improve performance on the field. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is personally overseeing the reconciliation efforts to ensure the team's preparation is not hindered by internal conflicts
