The federal government has permitted transactions between the Gwadar Free Zone and the tariff area to be conducted in Pakistani currency instead of dollars. For this, significant amendments have been made to the Customs Rules 2001.
According to documents seen by The Express Tribune, the FBR has issued a notification of amendments to the Customs Rules to allow transactions between the Gwadar Free Zone and the tariff area in Pakistani currency.
When contacted, FBR officials stated that after these amendments, all other rules will apply to the import and export transactions.
